BREATH IN AND OUT

The process

The pregnancy counseling starts when the child is palpable: on average this is close to 20 weeks. This can also be earlier, the rule of thumb we use is when the mother can feel the child. Haptonomy pregnancy counseling is based on 7 sessions. 6 of these take place before birth and the last session a few weeks after delivery. The sessions take place with the mother and her partner. And the partner is just as important in this as the future mother! After all, you’re a team that will bring this to a successful conclusion together. The last session takes place with you as new parents together with the newborn baby.

WHAT DO we get out of it?

Your partner learns how to support you during pregnancy and delivery. Your partner learns, for example, how to be of importance in the case of hard stomachs, fatigue, back pain or restless legs during your pregnancy.

We reflect on your interaction with each other and we look at the qualities and pitfalls of this.

You’re learning to make contact with the baby in the womb in different ways together.

We pay attention to posture and movement; how you as a future mother can carry the child and how your partner can support this. In case you experience physical complaints, we look at how you can best deal with this during your pregnancy.

PREPARE TOGETHER

You learn to prepare for the delivery. You learn how to deal with pain, how to handle contractions and how to push in practical ways for both of you.

You practice different birthing positions with each other.

I’ll consider your preferences and wishes with regard to the delivery, and we also discuss the possibility that the delivery will go differently than hoped for.

You’ll learn in which ways you can pick up and carry your baby after birth.

WHY CHOOSE HAPTONOMY PREGNANCY COUNSELING WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER PREGNANCY COURSES?

What makes haptonomy pregnancy counseling different is making contact with your unborn child. In addition, your partner is a very important and essential part of the pregnancy process AND the delivery. You’ll have to do this as a team. That is why haptonomy pregnancy counseling is really meant for you two together.

Have you ALREADY THOUGHT about A DELIVERY PLAN?

and more questions like that right here:

  • How about a maternity plan?
  • Is the nursery finished yet?
  • Is the unborn child already registered for that super nice daycare?
  • Are you looking forward to the delivery or not?
  • Are you afraid of giving birth?

All questions that can drive your stress level up high. Never be afraid to ask me anything if you’re not sure about something. If I don’t know the answer for you, I can always connect you to someone who does.

what about the PARTNEr?

The one you can count on

As the partner you’ll learn practical skills that apply to pregnancy and delivery. You as the partner have an active role during the pregnancy process. You learn to guide your pregnant partner before, during and after the delivery.

Some practical examples are:

  • Hard bellies
  • Back pain
  • Fatigue or restless legs

These are issues with which you can help.

I’ve been told regulary that ‘feeling parenthood’ and ‘feeling fatherhood’ is so difficult if you’re not the one being pregnant. You feel you can’t yet make contact with your child. The awesome thing is, especially when your child is inside the belly, you can make contact together. And that’s something you will learn during the sessions.

You practice birthing positions together, especially to see what suits you best. But you can also adapt yourself to unexpected situations if your situation changes.

In addition, we’ll discuss in practical terms what your wishes are for the delivery. For this we make a plan so that you both know how to act if you get into an unexpected situation together. That is the moment your partner can really shine.

Give me some options here

  • 7 practical sessions in which you both learn the right skills to make the pregnancy and delivery as pleasant as possible.
  • Both the mother and the partner are given ample opportunity to make physical contact with the baby before delivery.
  • The partner learns practical actions with which the mother can be supported during the pregnancy process and especially during the delivery.

CURIOUS ABOUT MY GUIDANCE?

The number of sessions can be adjusted to the possibilities and wishes of the parents. Consider, for example, having a 2nd or 3rd child, where the entire process has already been completed in a previous pregnancy. An introduction to this newest family member can then be the approach of counseling.
